Waiting

In 2003, when Swamiji returned to India to resume the work SRF had forced him to abandon four decades earlier, one of the first people to come to see him was a man who had known Swamiji from that earlier time.

“I was twelve years old, in 1961, when my father took Kriya Initiation from you,” the man said. “I wanted to take Kriya, too, but you told me, ‘You are too young. You will have to wait.’”

“I remember,” Swamiji said.

“I have had many other opportunities since then to receive Kriya, but you told me to wait. So I waited, even though I didn’t know if you would ever come back.”

Softly Swamiji replied, “All these years, I, too, have been waiting for you.”
